Charles (Chuck) D. Hanaway 79, Indianapolis, died at 11:15 PM at Riverwalk Nursing Facility in Noblesville. He was born in Jennings Co. Indiana to Walter H. and Edith P. (Wilds) Hanaway and graduated from North Vernon High School in 1949.
He served in the U. S. Navy from 1950 to 1953 as a pipefitter first class, much of that time in Korea during the war. He then spent 40 years as a pipefitter in Indiana and Florida.
He is survived by one son, Michael Allen Hanaway and wife Brenda, Berea, Ky. and one brother, Gene Hanaway and wife Vera, Rochester, In. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Irene Hughes, Mable Johnson and Lucille Speer, and one brother Herschel.
Memorial services are 11 AM Saturday at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 2720 E. 86th St., Indianapolis and interment will take place at a later date at Vernon Cemetery, Vernon, Indiana.
