William joined the Army Paratroopers in the early 1950's and served in the Korean Conflict. He loved jumping out of airplanes. He was a past member of The Fraternal of Eagles. All who knew him loved him and God knew him best. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurlough and Edna Hurt, sisters; Irma Paradise and Mary Jane Hurt, and brothers; Ivan Denzil Hurt and Cleatus Ray Hurt. He is survived by his son Rodney William Hurt, sisters; Urma Lee Chumley of Chandler, IN, Eva Lena Thompson of Oakland City, IN, and Priscilla Dean Gaggett of Evansville, IN, brothers; Rev. Cecil H.(Betty) Hurt of St. Louis, MO, Jack Gilbert(Sonia)Hurt of Louisville, KY, Lowell Wayne Hurt of Evansville, IN, and David Paul "Corky" (Susan) Hurt of Newburgh, IN; a host of Nieces, Nephews, Great Great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Chapel Church.
Family will have private graveside service at Bates Hill Cemetery, Yankeetown, Indiana
